Australia’s freshest waterpark opened just in time for the Christmas/summer season and it’s been doing great business ever since. Built by Village Roadshow at a cost of more than AUS$120 million (US$107m), Wet‘n’Wild Sydney showcases more than 40 thrilling rides and attractions – including two major slide complexes by WhiteWater

ne of my favourite attractions is 360Rush,” say Wet‘n’Wild Sydney general manager Chris Warhurst, discussing the park’s

quadruple AquaLoop installation. “But be warned, it’s not for the faint hearted! The 360Rush will have you shaking in your swimmers as you climb six storeys to race side-by-side against your mates in two sets of duelling 360º degree looping waterslides. Once you’ve accepted the challenge and entered the launch capsule, there’s no turning back as the trapdoor opens sending riders down a 12-metre near vertical drop. Take a deep breath and open your eyes if you dare as you reach speeds of up to 60 km/h!” Wet‘n’Wild Sydney is one of the most significant new park openings in Australia since 1991, when Village Roadshow opened Warner Bros Movie World on the Gold Coast in Queensland. With the new facility, which will operate for up to 12 months a year, it hopes to entertain over one million annual guests. The company enjoys a good relationship with WhiteWater, which has previously kitted out waterparks for group on the Gold Coast and also in the United States, at Wet‘n’Wild Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Also supplied by WhiteWater to the park in Sydney, as well as 360Rush, are several industry firsts, including the world’s first Whizzard Twist, an eight- lane mat racer called H2

Aussie exclusives
A second slide complex from WhiteWater features a giant AquaTube plus Australia’s first Rattler slide, otherwise known as The Typhoon. Then there’s the Half Pipe (Boomerango), which sends guests swishing around the sharp bends of a fully enclosed tube slide before emerging back into daylight, just before an unexpected 16m drop that forces them and their tube to soar up the vertical wall of water that follows. On Tropical Cyclone (Constrictor), riders hit speeds of up to 30km/h per hour as they battle their way through the some of the fiercest and tightest waterslide turns in the world. The Breakers, starting out from the same tower, is a combination of four side-by-side Master Blaster water coasters, where riders can compete against one another as they are propelled by water jets through a series of thrilling ups, downs, twists and turns. “The two slide complexes are a highlight of the park,” notes Warhurst, adding “WhiteWater’s iconic waterslides continually draw rave reviews and enhance the overall guest experience. Also proving to be a huge hit with our guests is The Beach, Australia’s largest and best wave pool. This ‘beach within reach’ features a huge white sandy beach – the size of Sydney’s Bronte Beach.”
Additional slides and attractions, some by ProSlide, include Australia’s first ever double whirl bowl slide, a
