Monday from Suamico, Wisconsin flew a pair of Mako twin hull seaplanes (below center and right) available from Western Michigan Flyers LLC. A RealFlight simulator download is available on their website if you want to give this particular model a try!


categories were Sport and Scale. Each cate- gory was competing for a radio system—a Tactic 6-channel system for Sport, and a Futaba FASST 6-channel system for Scale! These are not “rulebook” scale events, but do include both static and flight judging. Sky- masters member Joe Rubinstein did the judging honors. The winner in the Scale cat- egory was Bob Komro with his L-4. Joe Hass (Rochester, MI) won the Sport category with his Arrow, a Laddie Mikulasko design. For logistics, to keep pilots in the air as much as possible, there were seven flight


stations managed by a single flight control tent located mid-beach. Mandatory spotters assisted pilots in knowing where air and wa- ter traffic was around them for safety. Air- plane friendly buoys marked the flight line off shore providing a taxi area, and safe haven for airplane retrievers and the photog- rapher! (As usual, I spent much of the week- end waist deep in water with my Nikon.) Keeping the attendees, workers, and spec- tators well fed is an important part of the event. “Billy D’s Burger Shack” was open for lunch both days, a catered chicken and pas-
