Seagull Models Fairchild PT-19 ARF by Bob McFadden This gorgeous and highly

realistic Fairchild PT-19 is the work of Bob McFadden of Blair, Oklahoma. The plane is a Seagull Models ARF, spanning 80 inches and is powered by a Magnum 1.20 four-stroke engine. The radio is an Airtronics SD10G system with eight Futaba S9001 servos and one Futaba S3004 servo. Internal electric power is provided by a 6-volt 2000 mAh battery. The two pilot figures are from Pete’s Pilots. During WWII the full-scale PT-19 in this livery operated out of Victory Field in Vernon, Texas, training pilots who quickly moved on to B-24 bomber assignments. The model is very stately and realistic in flight and is a flight-line favorite among local flyers.

This is a Shive Specialties kit of the Baby Bombshell, with a 2212 motor, 1000 mAh Li-Po and a 10-amp ESC. Quite a large mo- tor for this plane, but required for balance. It will take off in 2 feet and climb to altitude in 10 to 12 seconds at half throttle. The reason why it is such a

wonderful plane to fly is that the throttle can be set on the second or third click and main- tain altitude for an hour! Just set the trim, still slightly tail heavy, and glide with a few clicks of throttle and back to altitude. The “Blond Bombshell” decal suits it well and was obtained at the 2013 Reno Air Races from the “Victory Girls” stand near the entrance.
