Pod Drinks new Multi Forma system delivering delicious drinks and harmony to the workplace
British designers and manufacturers of the Xen range of drinks vending machines, Pod Drinks PLC, launch the most exciting innovation in its history. Introduction of the Multiforma ingredient dispensing system represents a radical move for a company that previously specialised in the design and manufacture of groundbreaking drink vending machines.
hot beverage at work is so important. It allows you a few minutes out of your busy day to relax, talk with colleagues and gather your thoughts. Given the choice, people prefer to make their own drink, in their own mug, the way they like it. The use of domestic tins, jars and packets of ingredients in a commercial environment causes all sorts of problems, more of which later. Some companies reluctantly resort to expensive, unreliable and potentially unhygienic vending machines. Let's be honest, most people don't like or trust drinks from vending machines, with some justification it would seem. An article in Environmental Health magazine concluded that ‘most’ vending machine operators were not following the recommended daily cleaning procedures and that ‘23%’ of the nozzles of automatic vending machines contained traces of ‘Ecoli Type 1’. Thousands of companies, large and small, who don't want to resort to vending machines are obliged to rely on domestic packets, jars and tins to provide the necessary ingredients to enable their staff to make a hot drink. Research shows that although employees prefered to make their own drinks, they became frustrated by split packets, empty tins, damp spoons and ingredients that were cross contaminated and stale due to being left open by “someone else”. also frustrated, but for different reasons. Drink preparation areas were always messy; a complete lack of cost control and to make matters worse disgruntled employees who simply wanted to make a drink!
Both management and staff were caught between a rock and a hard place. It’s either messy tins, packets and jars or unhygienic, unreliable,expensive vending machines. For a small minority single drink pouch systems are available, but the very slow dispense time plus high cost of the individual pouches (25-50p without milk or sugar) prevents this type of system from being a realistic alternative.
