3D measurement of form and roughness With InfiniteFocus, Alicona offers a high resolution, optical 3D measurement system for quality assurance of micro structured components including complex geometries. As it is with the entire product range of Alicona, the system combines both the functionalities of a surface measurement system and a micro coordinate measurement machine. For a user, this means to measure roughness and form of a component with only one system. Even when measuring complex shapes across large measurement areas, users achieve a vertical resolution of up to 10 nm.

In addition to tool measurement, Alicona systems are used to measure micro components and micro structured surfaces in the automotive industry, aerospace industry, medical technology or micro die casting. High resolution and a high scanning range enable the measurement of also complex geometries with e.g. steep flanks and components with highly varying reflective properties. Small radii and angles are measured even across large measurement volumes in constant high vertical resolution. In tool industry, typical applications are the cutting edge measurement of drills, milling cutters etc. Measurements include automatic deviation to target geometry including CAD-data, customised reports and GD&T measurements. In combination with accordant accessories and grips, users also perform full form measurement of tools. Single measurements from various directions are automatically reassembled into a complete 3D data set. This way users also measure complex contours and surfaces that can hardly be measured optically in the conventional way.
