It seems that our readers can’t get enough of case studies, and I’m very proud to be presenting three of them to you in this winter issue.

Welcome to the last issue of Commercial Micro Manufacturing magazine this year. And what an issue it is!

With our regional focus, we’re taking you to Switzerland with its snow-covered Alpine tops, green firs and cutting-edge micro manufacturing technologies. We have prepared three very interesting articles for the Swiss Focus: a feature on the Use of Flexures in High-Precision Devices, a piece on state-of-the- art laser equipment from Swisstec and an article from The Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM), which is a great overview of different micro manufacturing and MEMS processes.

It seems that our readers can’t get enough of case studies, and I’m very proud to be presenting three of them to you in this winter issue. Turn to our Machining section to read about a partnership between Blum and Amada, and check out the Metrology pages to find out how Alicona and GFMesstechnik helped their customers secure the best technology available for their particular needs.

I’m also very pleased to be featuring an article from Indo- MIM, an Indian micro moulding company already familiar to our readers. The article written for CMM magazine describes the latest trends in micro injection moulding, including ceramic injection moulding.

This issue’s special focus is on Precision Electrolytic Machining, and an article on the subject has been written for us by Don Risko of PEM Technologies. I would also like to turn your attention to our new columnist, Dr. Nadeem Rizvi of Laser Micromachining Ltd. As our other regular contributors, Professor Duc Pham and Professor Steve Walsh, Dr. Rizvi is a very familiar face within the industry. I hope you enjoy reading his contribution as well as the rest of the November/ December issue of the magazine.

I wish you all a great winter break. We will be back early next year with some more cutting-edge content from the leading experts in the micro manufacturing and MEMS fields.
