products New products MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon

Maplesoft has introduced the latest addition to the MapleSim product family, the MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon. This component library is the result of a partnership with Modelon, the developer of high-quality Modelica libraries. With the MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon, engineers can incorporate industry- tested hydraulics components while continuing to take full advantage of all the modelling, analysis, and simulation abilities of MapleSim. MapleSim offers a modern

approach to physical modelling and simulation, dramatically reducing model development and analysis

Didger 5

Golden Software has released version 5 of its Didger program that combines advanced georeferencing, digitising, and coordinate conversion features. Designed primarily for scientists, engineers, and mapping professionals, Didger solves the problem of combining data in numerous file formats and different coordinate systems, by providing extensive tools to transform GIS data into one cohesive coordinate system. The solution can precisely

convert paper maps, graphs, aerial photographs, well logs, or any other plotted information into a versatile digital format that can be used with

other mapping and engineering applications. Didger 5 can now download online maps through WMS connectivity, enabling users to create base maps for their projects by downloading image layers from online web mapping servers (WMS). Didger has significantly extended its list of support file formats to include the import and export of PDF and GeoPDF files, the import of XSLX and XLSM files, export of SVG files, and export to KML and KMZ files so the user can display projects in Google Earth. Didger 5 operates in a Microsoft Windows environment with Windows XP Vista 7 or 8. www.goldensoftware.com

time while producing fast, high-fidelity simulations. It enables modelling at the system level, so engineers can combine hydraulic subsystems with other domains and analyse their interactions.

The MapleSim Hydraulics Library from Modelon includes more than 150 components for modelling pumps, motors, cylinders, restrictions, valves, hydraulic lines, lumped volumes, and sensors. It enables engineers to produce high-fidelity models by accounting for compressible oil and cavitation effects, resulting in an accurate view of system dynamics. www.maplesoft.com

Activity Miner

Cresset has announced that Activity Miner, an intuitive SAR interpretation tool that identifies the key 3D structural and electrostatic changes impacting biological activity, is available as a module in its Torch and Forge software suites. Activity Miner employs new science to calculate and compare the structural and activity differences between each pair of molecules in a dataset. The visualisation tools make it easy to understand why a specific change resulted in improved activity, and also

to understand cases where an large change in chemistry results in a small change in activity.

‘The optimisation path of a compound through a design cycle is usually stepwise. Small structural changes usually result in small activity changes. The exceptions, when a small change of structure or electrostatics results in a large change in activity, are known as activity cliffs,’ said Dr Robert Scoffin, CEO of Cresset. www.cresset-group.com

Mathcad Prime 3.0

Mathcad Prime 3.0, the latest version of the engineering calculation software for problem- solving, analysing and sharing engineering design knowledge, is now available from Adept Scientific in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Version 3.0, from PTC, features improved calculation capabilities to allow more complex equations to be solved, faster. Mathcad offers hundreds of mathematical functions, the unlimited ability for users to define their own, the capability to solve equations both numerically and symbolically, and the power to solve the most

Modde 10

Umetrics has introduced version 10 of Modde, an off-the-shelf, Windows- based software solution for Design of Experiments (DOE). Modde 10 features user-friendly wizards that take the user through all the steps of planning, analysing, interpreting and understanding the results, while the important risk-estimation tools for proper quality assessment

have been brought to a new level of QbD, the company says. Modde 10 is a complete DOE package developed to meet the highest standards set by the pharmaceutical and other industries. Its graphical interpretation tools facilitate trouble- free implementation of QbD and estimation of the design space. www.umetrics.com
