From 18 to 21 November some of the the HPC industry's best and brightest will gather together in Denver, Colorado, for the 25th Supercomputing Conference. With the number of exhibitors expected to rise beyond 350, and an expansive technical programme that includes panels, talks, workshops, and more, this continues to be a must-attend event on the calendar. If you will be making the trip this year, please stop by booth 735 and meet the Scientific Computing World team. A preview of other key exhibitors can be found on page 25. Beyond the set schedule, one of the
main advantages of attending SC13 is the opportunity to network and to discuss with peers some of the more pressing issues affecting our industry – one of the main ones being how to reach the next level of computing. Experts from some of the major HPC centres and hardware vendors offer their thoughts (p34). Staying with the HPC focus, John
Barr reports on the potential of cloud computing (p38), while Andrew Jones presents his view of the reality behind the supercomputing vision (p22). We hope to see you in Denver!
