the world a better place for both ourselves and our dogs, cats, cockatoos, tortoises, et al), Sandra Murphy is sure that saving animals saves people (p.30). My husband Mike and I can personally attest to the truth of this. Caring for Owen (our fi rst) and Tuni (our second)—and now fi ve Golden Retriever puppies has dramatically changed our lives in many positive ways. The sharing of daily care, the joy of seeing them thrive, the search for just-the-right owners has brought us closer than we could have imagined. (As I write this, we have an exceptional male puppy available. See p.45 for details.) Finally, at this Thanksgiving time—and always—let us be
grateful for all our blessings as well as challenges that fi ll our days (and nights!) and give us reason to successfully navigate this world of choices. May you know who you are and what gifts you can offer this
