Multiplex Solius kit contents of the RR version (above). Also included is a small hardware package and instruction manual for building the kit, and reference manuals for the Multiplex brushless outrunner motor and the Multiplex motor speed controller. A view of the radio gear area (at right) with canopy removed. The 1800 to 2700 mAh Li-Po battery pack slides into a long battery compartment to the left of the open area. Battery location is close enough to the airframe c.g. to fine tune the fore-and-aft balance.

Box contents

The box contains a pair of foam wings, the fuselage, and the horizontal stabilizer, all carefully enrobed in bubble wrap. The main airframe components are molded of Elapor™ foam, used in many Multiplex models. Ela- por™ is stiff and light, molds with a smooth finish and glues with medium CA glue and CA activator. The Elapor™ formulation for this

model seems denser than other Multiplex models, and results in a surprisingly solid, sat- isfyingly stiff, and pleasingly heavy airframe. The denser formulation seems like it would be stronger and tougher than the less dense for- mulation in other Multiplex models, but this observation was not tested for this review. Also included are user manuals for build- ing the kit, motor and ESC, and a small

hardware packet. The display box, with top handle, makes a fine case for storage and transportation of the ready-to-fly model. The fuselage is carefully and completely assembled with the elevator and rudder ser- vos already installed in the fin. The tail boom includes an aluminum tube for in- creased stiffness. The Multiplex motor with spinner and folding propeller are mounted.
