On his bucket list I just had to compliment the FMteam on a great job in the September issue. I usually read almost every page (even the ads) and for some reason this one just seemed to be a notch up from usual.

A minor glitch

Regrading the October issue, page 36, I think the Cougar is a Panther and I know the Dragon is really a DeH 90 DragonFly. The -84 is a Dragon, squared off wing tips, blunt nose, slab sides. -86 is a 4-engined a/c, the Dragon Express. -89 is the Dragon Rapide. Try googling or www.airliners.net. In there you’ll see a good photo of the real-AYR. BRIAN KNOCK via e-mail

Oops Ran across a little error in the October

2013 issue. This may have been pointed out already. The picture in the upper left corner of page 36 was identified as a Cougar. This is in reality a model of the Grumman Pan- ther. The Cougar was a swept wing version of the Panther.

During the Watts Over Owatonna event, I tried to get as much information as I could while on the flight line and mistakenly wrote down Dragon rather than Dragon Fly. The Cougar mistake however I should have known better.

I especially liked your reply to the “you don’t make controversial editorials” com- ment. Nice job, Frank! The Thermic 50 was a favorite of mine as a kid, too. I can see myself building one of these.

Longtime fan

I’m an oldtimer; don’t have a computer, don’t need to speed time along! Been reading FLYING MODELS since I was a kid. Keep up the good work on the mag.

How about it?

A quick note to let you know I am a long- time (70 years) model builder who enjoys the text and the ads separated. I still review the ads just as much. I do have one major com- plaint: the shrinking size of most of your construction plan presentations. One of my many enjoyments in a model magazine is to read a construction article and follow what is said by studying the plan, even though I have no intention of actually building the model. Problem: plan presenta- tions are too small. Please try to use no less than one page per plan sheet. Photos are nice but a few less would help give you this room.

Some CAD drawings in the past made the print so small I couldn’t read it even with a magnifier. Please help me here so I can con- tinue my FMsubscription.

Retro rocks I just wanted to write you a quick note about your new Baby Biwinger kit. I built it on a Friday over the course of a few very en- joyable hours. I installed the gear from a donor Sukhoi, and flew it on Saturday morn- ing. The kit itself was outstanding, as are all the Retro R/C kits I’ve had the pleasure of building. The flying though, is where this plane really shines. I can’t wait to fly it at the Horizon indoor event! Thank you also for being a sponsor of this event.
