presents a seminar for skating indus- try leaders who seek to improve their management practices and grow their businesses. It’s called the Skating Director


Course, and it’s conducted during the North American Rink Confer- ence and Expo (NARCE), hosted by STAR (Serving the American Rinks). Tis year’s event is scheduled for May 19‒21 in Columbus, Ohio. Te 2½ day seminar focuses on the seamless administration of suc- cessful programs and ways to build a healthy customer base, retain skaters and move them through the pipeline of U.S. Figure Skating programs. Attendees


represent all facets


of the skating industry including skating directors, Basic Skills Pro- gram directors, club board members, coaches looking to advance their careers and rink managers. Tey are seeking out new programming ideas, growth initiatives, peer networking, job opportunities and to reaffirm what they doing. “Our dynamic lineup of pre-


senters share with attendees how to use the full array of U.S. Figure Skating programs to create a suc- cessful and financially viable full-ser- vice figure skating program — from growing the base to supporting elite skaters and everything in between,” said Susi Wehrli-McLaughlin, senior director of membership at U.S. Fig- ure Skating. “Our class is well-known for


the laughter heard down the halls by the other attendees, because we


believe learning, as well as skating, should always be fun. NARCE is one of our favorite seminars, because we have the time to dig into topics fo- cused on growing and strengthening all programs and clubs. On Tues- day and Wednesday, 70 of the ice rink industry’s leading vendors will be on hand displaying their prod- ucts and services at the largest trade show in the business.
