U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS PREVIEW MAKING HISTORY Davis and White take aim at record sixth ice dance title
ICE DANCE When Meryl Davis and Charlie White step
onto the ice this week at Boston’s TD Garden, they’ll attempt to achieve something that no other ice dance team in the 100-year history of the U.S. Championships has ever accom- plished: win a sixth title. The Michigan-based team arrives fresh
off a record fifth consecutive ISU Grand Prix Final title in Japan and is the overwhelming favorite to make history of its own. “We’re going for our sixth-straight title,”

six and we hope we can set that record,” Davis added. Davis and White actually competed to- gether the last time the U.S. Championships were held in Boston in 2001. They finished sixth in the novice ranks. Entering these Championships, Davis
and White share the record for most U.S. ice dance titles with six other teams, including former Canton, Mich., training partners Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto. Belbin and Agosto won the Olympic silver medal in 2006, a feat that Davis and White duplicated at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. With an Olympic gold medal in their
crosshairs, Davis and White hope to use the U.S. Championships as another springboard to achieving their ultimate goal. Davis and White will perform their short dance to My Fair Lady and their free dance to Nikolai Rimsky-Kor-
