Tommy Perkins, Ph.D., is the new executive vice president of the
International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA). A Silverton na- tive, Perkins received B.S. and M.A. degrees from West Texas A&M University in Canyon and a doctoral degree in animal science/animal breeding and genetics from Texas Tech University in 1992. Most re- cently, Perkins served as the execu- tive vice president for Beefmaster Breeders United. Headquartered in San Antonio, IBBA is a membership- based organization that strives to provide members with innovative programs and services. The purpose of the IBBA is to serve the com- mercial cattle industry by offering industry leading technology to increase the quality and reliability of Brangus genetics to its customers.
The Texas Shorthorn Associa- tion has elected new leaders.
Bill Jenkins, 44 Cattle Company, Big Spring, will serve as president. Paula Archer, Lone Star Cattle Company, Pittsburg, was elected vice president. Linda Scott, Jewett, and Mary Bass, Olton, were elected secretary-treasurer and publicity offi cer, respectively. Jeannene Xan- thus, Celeste, was elected president of the Texas Shorthorn Lassies. Victoria Osburn, Celina, was select- ed as the Texas Shorthorn Lassie Queen. Angus Genetics, Inc. (AGI) is partnering with 2 companies to
