Golfers Swing Into Action For Charity


When Liverpool based John Gallagher had successful life-saving transplant surgery at the Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital Liver Unit on 16th February this year, John and his wife Claire vowed to thank the department that saved his life. Formby Hall Golf Club hosted a fundraising Golf Day and Dinner which raised over £20,000 for the Transplant Unit. Te fantastic evening was hosted by Pete Price and Willy Miller and sponsored by


Wongs Jewellers and Bet Victor, with entertainment provided by MD Productions, Chris Maloney and Tricia McTeague. Mr Perera, the surgeon who performed the life-saving


surgery, made an emotional speech about the transplant journey, and John and Claire were delighted that the Transplant Co-ordinators who had helped them so much through what was a very difficult time were also able to attend the event.


Everton Ladies Lunch a Success Everton captain Phil Jagielka attended a special ‘ladies only’ lunch to help raise over £750 in aid of Te Lily Centre and Clatterbridge Hospital, which treated and helped two female members of Everton staff to beat breast cancer in recent years. Te event, sponsored by Russell and Case Jewellers, Artdeco Make-up, Weightmans LLP and Pommery Champagne, was hosted by Sky Sports News presenter Vicky Gomersall. Speaking at the launch, Jagielka said: “Te lunch was a lot of fun and we helped raise some money for local charities which helped two members of staff beat breast cancer, so a good day was had by all.” Te Ladies Lunch officially kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month for the Club, which will see the Blues taking part in a number of initiatives to support the campaign. During the Ladies Lunch, an exclusive raffle was held with the top prize being a beautiful Russell and Case Mandarin Citrine cocktail stone, set into a sterling silver handmade bespoke ring. Other prizes included a signed pair of Phil Jagielka’s boots and an overnight stay at the Hilton Liverpool, with all proceeds being donated to Te Lily Centre and Clatterbridge Hospital.


Art Bus Pulls In To Chester’s Water Street Gallery


Te Sir Peter Blake designed Art Bus launched an exhibition of


rare modern and contemporary art at Chester’s Watergate Street Gallery in September. Waterfront readers were invited to climb aboard the bus for refreshments, followed by a trip to the gallery


for a private viewing on the afternoon of Saturday 7th September. Te event was a unique opportunity to view and purchase from the collection of more than 60 rare paintings by the greatest names in British contemporary art, including Royal Academicians.
