Metcast Doubles Manufacturing Space Shot blast system, parts and service provider Metcast Service Tech

Grede Announces Plan to Idle Radford Facility
The metalcasting facility went through a series of acquisitions before becoming a Grede company.
Grede, Southfield, Mich., has an- nounced plans to idle its metalcasting facility in Radford, Va., at the end of the year and lay off 250 workers. It has had three different owners since 2008. Grede acquired it in March 2012. According to Grede spokes-
man Richard Pacini, some of the metalcasting facility’s 28 salaried employees will be able to apply for jobs at other company facilities, but 234 hourly workers likely won’t have that opportunity. He attributed the decision to idle to the economy. A furnace fire in May 2012 also report- edly was a factor.
