Gov. Rick Perry has named Carlos Rubinstein, Bech Bruun and Mary Ann Williamson to serve as the 3 full-time board members of the Texas Water Development Board pursuant to House Bill 4 of the 83rd Legislative Regular Ses-


sion, effective Sept. 1. Rubinstein will serve as chair of the board. The new board will provide leadership, planning, and fi nancial and technical assistance for the responsible development of water for Texas.


The National Agri-Marketing Association honored 4 recipients of the 2013 Professional Development Awards of Excellence: Marketing Communications — Gary Sakin, Monsanto; Public Relations — Linda Romander, broadhead;


Product/Species Management — Zach Hetterick, Case IH; and Sales — Jay Carlson, Penton Media - BEEF Magazine. Four women will be inducted into the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame at its 38th Annual Induction


Luncheon Ceremony on Oct. 24. The honorees are Eleanor Green, DVM, DABVP, DACVIM, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University; Cathy A. Smith of Santa Fe, N.M., an artist dedicated to preserving the history of the 19th-century cowboy/girl and the Plains Indians; Mary Walker of Ennis, the 2012 Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Champion barrel racer, who after overcoming a life-shattering tragedy and a debilitating injury became the second-oldest woman, at age 53, to win the 2012 world title; and Elizabeth “Lizzie Johnson” Williams (1840-1924), who ranched near Austin, was a pioneer in cattle trading and according to legend was one of the fi rst women to drive her own cattle, along with her husband’s, up the Chisholm Trail, earning her the nickname, “The Cattle Queen of Texas.”


The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame honored 4 at during its annual banquet in July. Leo O. Timmerman (1913-1997), Tim- merman & Sons Feeding Co. Inc., and Louis Dinklage (1902-1984), Louis Dinklage Inc., were inducted into the Hall


of Fame. Harry Knobbe, Knobbe Commodities Inc., was presented with the Industry Leadership Award, and Edward “Mike” McMillan was recognized with the Arturo Armendariz Distinguished Service Award.
