A Moment with Momentum Instore

With Jingle Bells On

Are you getting excited about Christmas yet? I hope so, because if retailers aren’t excited about it they can hardly expect their customers to be. Last year stores were left standing by online sales but this year retailers need to learn from those who performed across all channels to really make this a Christmas with bells on.

Take Selfridges for example, experts at creating theatre and excitement instore and more so around the festive season. Other retailers should follow their lead to make their stores a shopping destination for Christmas 2013 rather than focusing solely on online sales generation.

Festive success will depend on making sure customers can shop any way they want to, and enjoy the experience. Click and Collect will be huge this Yuletide, as we can see from Asda already gearing up with its click and collect lockers and drive‐throughs. However it is important to note that retailers need to give equal attention to all of their sales channels to really put sparkle in their Christmas sales figures.

10 MILLIONTH SHOPPER

On Tuesday 27th August 2013, Trinity Leeds welcomed its 10,000,000th customer, just 158 days after launch. Opening to 132,000 excited shoppers on March 21st 2013, Trinity Leeds has seen an influx of visitors from across the country eager to sample its 120 shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and state of the art Everyman cinema.

GOING GREEN?

A new website could be set to help the retail sector dispose of its polythene waste in a greener, more sustainable way. www.bpirecycling.co.uk has been launched by bpi.recycled products to outline the impressive breadth of material it can recycle and to highlight the lower carbon footprint nature of its operations and its second life products.

Rachael Barton, Marketing communications manager at the business, explains: “Users of polythene packaging, including those in the retail sector, enjoy access to a greater range of recycling solutions than ever before. Many people may not fully realise the enormous variety of material that can be recycled or that different recycling options can offer different environmental advantages.”
