Demag adds packaging option to Systec line

Hall 15/D22 Machinery maker Sumitomo SHI Demag will show a packaging version of its proven Systec machine design and introduces its active colour change system. The SP (Speed Packaging)

version is a new machine that combines hybrid drive technology and a number of special processing functions with the proven Systec system platform to deliver a highly cost effective packaging solution, according to the company. Demonstrated at the show in a 280 tonne version, the

machine is targeted at applications such as high volume production of buckets, lids or stacking boxes, which may not require the high level of performance of its more costly El-Exis SP model. The Systec SP combines

electric plasticising drive with hydraulic drive of the clamp and injection movements using an energy-efficient activeDrive servo system. This is packaged with a hydraulic accumulator and fast position-controlled hydraulic valve to ensure highly dynamic injection. Parallel operation is supported and the system includes the

ActiveQ mould protection system and ActiveAdjust process optimisation tools. l Also new from the company is ActiveColourChange, a liquid pigment dosing system that feeds directly into the melt in the metering zone of the barrel. Sumitomo Demag claims this enables much faster colour changes than using conventional master- batch, reducing waste and its associated and unwanted cost. The system is designed for use with up to five colours, which can be selected from the NC5 machine control. ❙

Stork offers application packaged hybrids

Hall 13/D72 Stork Plastics Machinery will display five high performance packaging machines during the show, including four product- optimised hybrid models and one full-electric design. With each packaging

product requiring a slightly different machine drive execution, Stork says it has decided to offer five process optimised hybrid machine designs in the future. These comprise the Stork Food, Pot, Pail, Crate and 2-Fit lines (the latter being designed for fitting production). Eaxmples of these new

Ferromatik unveils small Elektron

Hall 15/C06 Ferromatik Milacron will introduce a new small addition to its Elektron series of all-electric moulding ma- chines. The 30 tonne Elektron 30 model is the smallest machine available from the company for some time. It will be equipped with a size 55 injection unit and will produce applicators for medical ampoules on a four-cavity mould by Braun-

The machine will run a 9.1s cycle. l A 270 tonne example from the company’s F-Series will be shown producing two-compo- nent twist tops on an all-elec- tric 8+8 cavity four-side Cube mould from Foboha. The machine offers a 750mm by 750mm tiebar spacing and is equipped with an electric mould turning system, size 50 main electric injection unit and 45 traversing unit over the

moving platen. Eight pairs of parts are

produced on each parting line of the Cube mould and, following each 90˚ rotation, the two parts are automatically screwed together on both the operator and non-operator side of the machine and then removed via an Air-Move- System from Trio-Technik of Germany. Each twist top weighs 9.7g. Cycle time is 9.5s. ❙

configurations will be on show. A 250 tonne model will be producing 150g IML food containers on a 4-cavity mould at a 2s cycle using a Brink side entry automation system. A 550 tonne model with a high speed electric clamp will be producing flower pots. A 900 tonne machine will be moulding a 2.22kg crate on a 30s cycle. A 200 tonne all-electric machine will be producing a barrier food container on a 4-cavity mould using the Iris co-injection system developed by Mold-Masters. The system includes Brink automation and an IMD Vista camera inspection system. ❙
