SHV SELLS SIAM MAKRo SHARES to tHAILAnd'S CP ALL


thailand’s biggest chain of convenience stores, CP All, has acquired cash-and-carry retailer Siam Makro, in a $6.1 billion deal, making it thailand’s biggest takeover ever.


According to Bloomberg, Jintana Mekintharanggur, director of equities investment at Manulife Asset Management Co., said: “CP All would significantly strengthen its domination in Thailand’s commerce industry by expanding into the cash-and-carry business.”


Siam Makro runs around 60 Makro cash-and-carry stores across Thailand, as well as five Siam Frozen stores. LM

SERVICE CoRP IntL ACQUIRES StEWARt EntERPRISES


Service Corporation International (nYSE: SCI) recently signed a definitive agreement with Stewart Enterprises, Inc. (nasdaq GS: StEI) to acquire all of Stewart's outstanding shares of Class A and Class B common stock for $13.25 per share in cash. the acquisition, which has been approved by the Board of directors of both companies, has an enterprise value of $1.4 billion.


Tom Ryan, SCI's President and Chief Executive Officer, commented: "We are very pleased to announce this agreement to merge Stewart Enterprises into our Company. We are extremely excited by the prospect of working alongside the Stewart associates and continuing to build on their success."


The acquisition will expand SCI's unparalleled network in the highly fragmented funeral and cemetery industry in North America. The combined company is expected to have pro forma revenue of nearly $3 billion and a pro forma backlog of future preneed revenue exceeding $9 billion. The two companies have 2,168 locations in 48 states, eight Canadian provinces and Puerto Rico. These locations in- clude 1,653 funeral homes and 515 cemeteries, of which 282 are combination locations.
