The proud papa ... errr, designer poses (at left) with his newest creation. Twin 90mm fans give Rich Uravitch’s S-3 Vikingits get-up and go. With this angle (above center), the Vikinghas all the right lines and curvatures to make one think miniature, not model. “Roger battle group, the sonobouys (above right) have the submarine cornered”.

Taken last September, Mike Kulczyk’s FJ-1 Fury (above left) was rigged for edf, but had not had the motor selected yet. Final selection is the JetFan 90mm fan unit with a HET 700-68-1500 motor running on 8S. Totally scratchbuilt, it has been three or four years in the molding/thinking process. Airborne (above right)! With Steve Ellzey on the sticks, Mike’s Fury has taken to the air. A tail heavy maiden was masterfully landed, but the power of the JetFan/HET
combination collapsed the intake ducting on short final of the second flight. Dick Sarpolus sent a photo (below left) of his original Jetster. With a Bob Kress designed fan it has been a popular design both in the original .40 engine size and the later .20 engine size. Dick’s latest foray in jets are profile sided edfs for schoolyard fun. He has designed not only this Panther (below right), but also a Cougar, Sabreand Phantom.
