Microaces Messerschmitt Bf109 E
Hot on the heels of the Microaces Battle of Britain Spitfire kit released in May comes its nemesis, the Messerschmitt Bf109 E. Based on the E-4 variant White 8 flown by Ace Pilot Hans-Karl Mayer during the Battle of Britain, this Microaces Bf109 kit boasts down to the rivets detail, realistic weathering and near scale performance. As with all Microaces kits, a great deal of time has been spent researching the original aircraft, including its structure, presentation in the air and flight characteristics. The research methods employed by the Microaces team include pawing over plans, photos, film and journals but also museum visits and seizing opportunities to see the real aircraft up close. They then distill the character of the aircraft into a 1⁄24 scale kit ready for radio control. The Microaces Bf109 is a smaller and lighter aircraft than the Spitfire but with a higher wing load, which provides a
very different, but none the less rewarding flying experience for the pilot. With removable undercarriage that retains the character of the original aircraft, landings and take-offs form part of the experience of flying this kit.
The resulting model has a wing span of 15 inches and uses the same electronics package as the other kits in the Microaces range, requiring an AR6400, AR6400L, AR6410 or AR6410L Spektrum Ultra Micro receiver and a 1-cell Li-Po battery. The Messerschmitt Bf109 Kit is available in the Deluxe Kit, which also includes the brushless motor and speed controller pre-wired for simple plug and play installation or the Standard Kit for those who already have the recommended motor and speed controller.
To mark the release of the Messerschmitt Bf109 E kit, Microaces has put together a Battle of Britain Dogfighter Twin Pack. It includes the Messerschmitt and the Spitfire Deluxe Kits at a substantial discount compared to purchasing individually. The Twin Pack offer is valid until August 24, 2013.
The Bf109 kit and the Twin Pack are available directly from Microaces for worldwide delivery. Check their website for US prices and delivery information. The Microaces website also provides an unparalleled amount of downloadable historical information on the aircraft and the individual pilot that flew it.
