A Quizzing

Challenge Our Annual PTA Supper Quiz took place recently, well attended by members of the parent body. The hall was aesthetically beautiful and the set tables reflected the names of the generous supporters of the Quiz Evening.

The Chairman of the PTA, Simone Abecassis, welcomed the crowd. She explained the purpose of the PTA and the exciting plans they have for the money currently being raised for the school, as well as a request for more volunteers to join the PTA and to help with PTA events.

Robert Pepper was the Quizmaster and did a fine job of conducting the quiz and pacing the evening well. After an interval whilst dessert was enjoyed, it was time for the auction. Peter Lazard had kindly donated signed Chelsea and Spurs football shirts and they had generated quite a bit of interest even before the auction started, so much so there were even telephone bidders. The Chelsea shirt made a very respectable £100, but the excitement in the room was electric

Bernard Bennaroch, a well-known Sofer (scribe) from Golders Green. The practical demonstration was extremely fascinating and insightful and helped everyone to understand why the price of Tefillin can range from £200-£2000.

The session ended with a fish and chip lunch, after which Mr Bennaroch wrote the boys’ Hebrew names on a piece of parchment using a traditional quill and ink. The second session is on 16 June and you are still welcome to join, even if you missed the first session.

all participants left the hall with the satisfaction of an exciting and fun evening with excellent food.
