An Evening of

Sporting Accolades The fourth annual Sports Award Evening was held recently in the Theatre. Over 400 people were in attendance for what was a wonderful evening celebrating and recognising the outstanding sporting success of JFS students over the past year.

This year’s special Guest Speaker was National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year, Alastair Humphreys. Alastair’s message that ‘all adventures begin with a first step outside your front door and can lead you anywhere you wish to go’, was brought to life with tales of his various expeditions around the globe.

This year’s event saw the Sportsman of the Year Award, the most prestigious award given to the most elite athlete at JFS, go to its youngest ever winner, Jack Josephs, aged just 15 years old. Jack is an excellent Table Tennis player who has been named the most promising Jewish sportsman of the year, representing Brent at the London Youth Games and Great Britain in the upcoming Maccabiah Games.

All award winners and nominees were given the extra surprise of a White Water rafting trip at the Lea Valley White Water Centre. This is part of the PE Department’s on-going Olympic Legacy programme and was arranged with the help and sponsorship of Maccabi GB.

Congratulations to all award winners and JFS wish you the best of luck for the sporting year ahead.
