Musical Talent fit for a Chief
JFS students Jessica Ansell (Year 10) and Natalie Robert (Year 11) performed at the Barbican Centre in a special concert celebrating the work of the Chief Rabbi, Lord Jonathan Sacks.
The two students had a starring role, accompanying, at the piano, a massed children’s choir of over 300 children, the Shabbaton Choir and assembled chazzanim. They performed a new setting of Anim Zemirot, composed by Stephen Levey (Musical Director of the Shabbaton Choir).
Jessica and Natalie were highly commended for their performances and were given their own round of applause in recognition of their achievement.
Mr Appleman, Assistant Headteacher, who supported them on this project said: “I am very proud of Jessica and Natalie for all their efforts. They accomplished something very special which will remain with everyone present for a very long time”.
Stephen Levey writes: “From the first time I met Natalie and Jessica, they showed a maturity well beyond their years. They were amazing and I am so proud of their achievements and cannot thank them enough”.
