Who will be the JFS Masterchef ?

Year 8 Gifted & Talented Food Technology students participated in the first ever ‘Invention Challenge’.

The day started with researching complicated recipes, using a wide range of food to be made later that day,

followed by the cooking itself! Each chef took the ingredients they

to create the perfect meal. We only had two hours to create our dishes so would experience the pressure of a commercial kitchen. Every meal was completed in time though. Some of the dishes included Choux buns, mini Victoria sponges and pizza, with some students making more than one dish.

The standards were very high. After the cooking had ended the results were judged by Mrs Poll and Mr T Miller with many other staff looking on. The winners were Ariella Bloom, Talia Simons, Rafaela Amery and Samuel Bray. The day concluded with an evaluation of each student’s work.

As amateur chefs we learnt a lot of new skills on this enjoyable day. The students gained a lot from the day, like learning new recipes and techniques, and overall the day was a brilliant success!
