They had “Johns Hopkins,” “millionaire” and “lacrosse” in the title. There’s always going to be things that make you feel uncomfortable. But the biggest part of sticking your neck out there and trying to grow the sport is getting out of your comfort zone.

LOVE THE PRO GAME

I love music. I’ve gotten heavily involved in deejaying as a hobby the last couple of years. Once offseason comes, I really enjoy getting out on weekends to my friends’ places to play some music. That’s entertainment.

I don’t think I’ll ever be involved in a coaching capacity. I love to coach younger kids, but what really captivates my attention is the business side of lacrosse — even ownership or general management. I’m really passionate about the pro game and see tons of value in where it has gone and where it continues to grow. Hopefully I can build a lifelong relationship with it.

really gotten into home decorations and remodeling. All of a sudden I care about that stuff. I started watching more HGTV and DIY TV. I’m teaching myself to be handy. It’s a frustrating process.

My Long-Term Goals

The next season is always the next goal. Beyond that, I want to continue to grow lacrosse as one of the sport’s ambassadors where we’re trying to take it into the mainstream spotlight. I want to do my part in my generation and set it up like Gary Gait, Tom Marechek, Dave Pietramala and Quint Kessenich did for guys like me.

>>MY SHOOTING SESSION

First I do a point-of-release drill to loosen up. Then I go to my knees for upper body iso shooting. I typically do 30 reps for each arm. Then it will go to time-and-room shooting — swatting the fl y, where you toss the ball to yourself, catch it and shoot in seamless motion. After 30 reps, you start incorporating your legs and try to keep the same motion shooting on the run. Then you cycle through all of them to fi nish.
