Select Bio is delighted to announce that the European Lab Automation 2013 Conference and Tradeshow will open its doors

from the 6 June. A two day, five track congress, the event offers over 75 scientific presentations on automation and its application within life science, alongside more than 100 equipment vendors and supporting companies, and an expected audience of over 1,000. ELA provides life science researchers and professionals with an unparalleled opportunity to encourage technological discussions and scientific collaboration.

Staying abreast of the latest advances in technology and ensuring that the most effective, up-to-date automation techniques are being employed can be challenging. Attending conferences and exhibitions throughout the year not only provides scientists with the opportunity to share their experiences and to network with researchers in their field, but delegates can also discuss their challenges with equipment manufacturers who can often help to tailor a solution to meet their automation needs.

For its third year, European Lab Automation (ELA) will continue its association with the city of Hamburg; the second largest city in Germany and sixth largest in the entire European Union. Hamburg is a major transport hub in Northern Germany and is one of the most affluent cities in Europe. Home to world leading research Institutions and Universities, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein is one of the most significant locations for medical technology and biotechnology, with 500 companies involved in Biotech, Medtech and Pharma on its doorstep.

Continuing on the theme established in the previous two years, delegates have the option of attending five different conference streams, each of which includes internationally renowned keynote speakers, research presentations, training sessions and much more.

The five separate conference tracks that make up ELA 2013 are: Biobanking: Preparation, Storage & Analysis Chemistry Automation & Liquid Handling

Drug Discovery Automation: High-content Screening & Cell Based Assays Nano & Microfluidics Next-Gen Sequencing

Keynote presenters include Greg Wendel, Head of Sample Management Group at Novartis, who will be sharing his experiences of “Automating the Compound Bank – Accelerating Drug Discovery”, in the Chemistry Automation & Liquid Handling track, and he is just one of many fantastic speakers.

Preceding the conference there will be a number of training courses taking place on the 5 June, covering:

Principles of Microfluidics and Construction of microTAS/ Applications of Microfluidic Devices in Bioanalysis

Microfluidics from the Concept to a Product: Technologies, Applications and Commercialisation Strategies

Introduction to Laboratory Automation Informatics Systems

These conference streams along with the training courses will be fully supported by leading technology vendors, showcasing the latest in automated instruments and workflows in the 5,000 sq.m exhibition hall. There will also be a number of free to attend exhibitor workshops within the hall detailing the latest technologies and techniques.

A new addition for 2013 will be the Select Bio conference App for both Android and IOS devices. Available to download free from the relevant marketplace, the app provides a single point for information on the agenda, exhibition and the short courses. Users will also be able to see a list of other attendees and communicate with them via email before, during and after the event, providing a great networking tool for delegates and exhibitors alike.

Registration for ELA is open, with delegate passes offering unrestricted access to all of the conference talks and to the exhibition hall. Select Bio’s Early Bird rates and 2for1 offer also provides attendees with unrivalled value. Those just looking to take advantage of the tradeshow and networking opportunities can do so free of charge with our exhibition only passes.
