London for example, recently set forth its plan to overhaul streets to better favour cyclists. CHRISTINA SEILERN set up Studio Seilern Architects in 2005. She has had over 15 years’ professional
experience on projects varying from commercial high- rises, residential and laboratories to performing arts spaces and museums. After working at Rafael Viñoly Architects
in New York, she moved to set up the London offi ce to run the practice’s European project. This grew to 40 staff in 5 years and was responsible for a construction value in excess of £600 million. Christina recently won the World Architecture News House of the Year 2012 Award for a recently completed residential project in Zimbabwe.
Award-winning lighting designer PAUL NULTY established his own practice, Paul Nulty Lighting Design, in 2011. Paul was previously a director of Light Bureau where he worked for 11 years.
PNLD was Highly Commended at the Lux Awards 2012
in the Lighting Design Practice of the Year category. The practice was also Highly Commended at the Energy Awards 2012, recognising its contribution towards sustainable and environmentally-friendly lighting design. In its fi rst 18 months the practice has been nominated for a total of seven awards.
Paul has worked on a variety of prestigious projects and combines creativity with an eye for detail.
Formed by HUGH BROUGHTON in 1995, Hugh Broughton Architects has developed a reputation for carefully crafted
contemporary architecture, winning awards from the RIBA, Civic Trust and International Property Federation. High profi le clients include The British Council, The National Galleries of Scotland, The Henry Moore Foundation and the TUC. In 2005, working
with AECOM, the practice won the international competition to design Halley VI Antarctic Research Station on the Brunt Ice Shelf, an extraordinary project that has led to numerous other international commissions in both polar regions. Halley VI offi cially opened in February 2013.
YVONNE ORGILL is the Chief Executive of the UK’s Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA), recognised and respected as “The Voice of the UK Bathroom Industry”.
She leads a trade body of 91 well recognised bathroom brands involved in the UK bathroom industry. Its members employ more than 10,000 people across 68 sites, and are responsible for a
combined membership turnover of almost £1 billion.
Yvonne represents the UK bathroom industry on a number of forums in the UK and Europe, meets regularly with Government and the European Commission and is a high profi le spearhead of the European Water Label committee. Yvonne collected the Special Achievement Award at the prestigious kbbreview Awards in March. The BMA also collected The Business Innovation Award for The Water Label at the Sentinel Business Awards in Stoke-on-Trent.
KEITH BRADSHAW. Keith’s range of lighting design projects including civic buildings, historical restorations, retail spaces, theatres, leisure spaces and commercial. Since joining Speirs + Major, he has been involved in many of the practice’s notable projects including the Copenhagen Opera House and the practice’s work with fashion brands. He
led the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque of Abu Dhabi which won the IALD 2010 Radiance Award and the Paul Waterbury Award of Distinction given by the IES. An Award of Excellence also went to Armani 5th Avenue for its innovative use and integration of LED. The Armani Ginza Tower won the outstanding achievement award at the 2009 Architectural Lighting Awards.
THOMAS JOHANSSON has been working at Electrolux since 2004. His extensive experience in the company ranges from leading international design teams in both small appliances and major appliances to creating an entirely new range of white goods. In his recent work Johansson has orchestrated the creative development of a completely
new household appliance range, launched at EuroCucina in Milan in April 2012. Thomas Johansson has developed and led numerous award-winning, customer-led innovation initiatives and designs. Before joining Electrolux, Johansson held designer positions at companies such as Caran, Bombardier Transportation and Rosenblad & Co.
SHANE KELLY has been working in the London market since 1999 following a move from Australia. He joined the interiors division of tp bennett in 2004 and has worked on a wide variety of projects, including numerous major corporate headquarters. Most recently he has been lead designer on an award winning headquarters building for
the Guardian Media Group, HQ for NBC Universal at Central St Giles and BTMU at Ropemaker Place. He also has in depth expertise in the legal sector delivering projects for Herbert Smith, Macfarlanes, Baker & Mckenzie and Travers Smith (Braithwaite), Weil Gotshal & Manges and Clyde & Co.
ROGER KYME’S career spans some 40 years, starting at builders’ merchants Travis Perkins plc, before moving into the position of General Manager of Showerlux (Canada). He travelled and worked extensively throughout North America, gaining experience in manufacturing and retail before returning home in 1998 when, with his wife Sandra, Roger
founded the fi rst Ripples showroom in the City of Bath.
2013 will mark 25 years since Ripples fi rst opened its doors. Now boasting 15 showrooms nationwide, today Ripples employs over 25 specialist designers. Between them they have won over 50 industry awards for design and marketing, leading to their current position as a premium bathroom retailer.
SIMON ALLFORD. From AHMM’s base in London Simon leads a studio that works in England and internationally, engaging public and private clients in the exploration of architecture’s potential to offer delight as well as utility.
Recent projects include the Stratford Village residential master plan, The Angel, Tea and Yellow Buildings as well as
the Saatchi Gallery and Chobham Academy.
He is currently working on the new Google HQ at KX, The White Collar Factory at City Road, a new tower on Blackfriars, three mixed use projects on Regent Street for the Crown Estate, an academic building for the University of Amsterdam as well as large scale apartment blocks in London and America.
