Recolight is working hard today to ensure all new entrants to the lighting supply market are WEEE compliant. We also need to look ahead to predict long term waste trends, to ensure sustainability. Manufacturers predict what’s coming onto the market and how sales patterns will change over the next few years. Recolight needs to look further ahead to what waste will come back as a result of those changes to product sales. We need to make assessments of the recycling rates that will be needed to comply with the changes to the WEEE regulations. We also need to assess the recycling technologies and collection methods that may be needed, and the associated costs. Nigel Harvey, Chief Executive of Recolight

The future


of LED lighting will demand better ways to control colour mixing in order


to achieve accurate match to conventional incandescent light sources with gel; smooth intensity fades; better means of crossfade between colours; and user friendly control surfaces in control desks, as well as fixture software algorithms. Energy efficiency will remain the driver for future lighting technology. It will need a lot of effort from these of us who care for quality of light to defend the output that we are used to from incandescent light sources.
