Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau

Established in 2009 by the Ministry of Tour- ism Malaysia, the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) has played an essential role in the success of a number of international meetings, conferences, and exhibitions held throughout the country. In 2012, MyCEB supported 255 business events, 50 percent of which were corporate and incentive meetings, 44 percent association meetings, and 6 percent exhibitions. In total, these events had an estimated economic impact of RM1.2 billion, or more than $388 million, and brought more than 130,000 attendees to Malaysia. A number of interna- tional events have drawn record attendance when meeting in Malaysia as well, including the 25th World Gas Conference 2012, the

70th Institute of Internal Auditors Interna- tional Conference 2011, and the 18th World Congress of Accountants 2010. MyCEB supports groups through a num-

ber of innovative programs, including Let’s Meet & Green. Established in late 2010, Let’s Meet & Green lets groups make a difference locally by helping conserve Malaysia’s natu- ral resources and leave an ongoing envi- ronmental legacy. Attendees participate by contributing $10 as part of their event registration to the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, which promotes the sustainable management of the country’s forests. The program also contributes to Malaysia’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2020.

Partner to pick The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau offers a number of programs — from cultural to philanthropic — that help planners add a whole new dimension to meetings and conventions.

program include the 18th World Congress of Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors’ 70th International Conference — which, when combined, donated close to $28,000. Other participating events include the 2012 Asia Petrochemical Industry Confer- ence, World Gas Conference 2012, and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons’ 82nd Annual Scientific Congress, held in 2012. To date, MyCEB has successfully planted 1,525 trees through the program.
