PCMA TODAY APRIL 2013

PCMA is the leading resource and premier educator for professionals in the meetings and conventions industry.

Innovation Advantage Leadership expert Jackie Freiberg kicked off last year’s PCMA Education Conference in San Antonio as the Opening General Session speaker.

A Reinvented Approach

Breaking the mold once again, the 2013 PCMA Education Conference will reinvent everything from content delivery to the schedule itself to inspire attendees to change up their own events.

A

s anyone who has attended PCMA’s Convening Leaders knows, PCMA is all about rein-

vention — taking risks, revamping the program, trying new formats. And that’s just what PCMA will do at the 2013 Education Conference, taking place June 24–27 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

Designed to facilitate intimate,

peer-to-peer learning, and focused on the leadership development and business strategy that are necessary to drive meeting reinvention, the PCMA Education Conference will feature multiple session formats. At every turn,

participants can expect to experience something different, from the World Café model, which uses seven design principles to facilitate group dialogue, to an entire session on failure, during which meeting professionals will share how and why specific new initiatives they tried out at their events did not take off as planned — and what they learned in the process. Since having great ideas about how

to change your meetings is just the start, the conference will help participants build the business foundation to bring those ideas to the marketplace, from needs analysis and budget development

to gaining upper management’s support. Keynote speakers include Jason Jen-

nings, the bestselling business and lead- ership author of The Reinventors (read our interview with Jennings on p. 81); Kaplan Mobray, whose presentations on leadership, networking, personal branding, and public speaking have been described as “life-changing”; and Mike Walsh, author of Futuretainment, which is about the latest techologies that will change your thinking about your professional relationships.
