KREPPEL Paul J. Kreppel, an accountant for U.S. Fig-


ure Skating for more than 40 years, passed away on Jan. 18, 2013. He served as an accountant at several


international competitions, including two World Championships. He also served at the U.S. Championships, sectionals, regionals and nonqualifying competitions, and as an accountant specialist.

and ran the Empire State Games competi- tions for 10 years. Paul and his family skated for many years at the Buffalo Skating Club, where he served as president and vice-pres- ident. Many accountants, referees, judges and


others throughout the skating community have said that Paul was a mentor and teach- er to them and have characterized him as a


kind, considerate, good-humored and smi- ley gentleman. Paul celebrated his 84th birthday on Dec.


24 at his home. All 22 members of his family joined him with a birthday pie, surrounded by 84 candles. He is survived by his wife Shirley M. Krep-


pel, judge and referee; two sons, John and Michael; and two daughters Karen (Hopkins) and Lisa (Laroussi) and 12 grandchildren.
