2013 WORLD JUNIOR FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS Alexandra Aldridge and Daniel Eaton took the bronze medal
in ice dancing for the second year in a row after repeating as U.S. junior champions in January. “We’re just honored to be able to compete at our second
World Junior Championships and to compete against such great athletes throughout the entire fi eld,” Eaton said. “It’s been a won- derful season. We performed our program to the best of our ability and I don’t think I can ask for a better experience.” Placing third in both segments, Aldridge and Eaton closed with an energetic free dance to selections of music from Fiddler on the Roof. T eir performance earned 82.44 points, the second- highest score of the segment, and featured a set of Level 4 twizzles and a diagonal step sequence that earned a program-high 7.50 points. Aldridge and Eaton fi nished with 139.33 points. Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin of Russia won the gold medal, while the silver went to Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France. Team USA’s Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker fi nished
their fi rst season as a team in seventh place with 124.35 points, while Lorraine McNamara and Quinn Carpenter ended ninth with 121.27 points. In the ladies event, less than one point separated the top fi ve competitors after the short program, with Team USA’s Samantha Cesario and Courtney Hicks holding fi rst and third place, respec- tively. In the end, it was Russia’s turn to sweep the podium with Elena Radionova coming out on top, followed by Julia Lipnitskaia and Anna Pogorilaya. Cesario just missed the podium with 154.55 points, with Hicks in fi fth place with 152.92. Teammate Yasmin Siraj fi nished 11th with 139.08 points.
