LUX-TSI, a UKAS accredited laboratory services company has secured £430,000 investment to expand facilities at its Birmingham operations and Bridgend headquarters, create new jobs and penetrate new markets. Specialising in the testing of LEDs, energy-efficient lighting and consumer products, LUX- TSI has state-of-the-art photometry, safety and environmental laboratories at Birmingham Science Park and at its headquarters at the Sony UK Technology Centre in Bridgend, South Wales. The funding will be used to create a European centre of excellence for the photometric and electrical performance testing of Energy Efficient Lighting and Consumer Electronics products. LUX-TSI is a preferred partner of global testing company UL (Underwriters’ Laboratories) and is able to offer a one-stop shop for performance, safety, environmental and EMC testing and certification of Lighting and Electronic products. With demand continually rising from UK firms wishing to certify products for global markets, the funding and partnership arrangement enables us to offer advanced support with staff with over 130 years of combined experience in photonics and electronics.

Verbatim makes foray into LED fixtures Verbatim is selling fixtures to complement the high-quality and reliable LED lamps it already supplies. The stylish fixtures perfectly fit Verbatim’s PAR16 GU10 lamps and are ideal to provide a handy and economical lighting upgrade to homes and offices. Sold through B2B and trade channels, each fixture pack consists of a fixed ring available in either white or brushed aluminium plus a holding pin, a GU10 socket and electrical connection box.


An IP23 rated version is suitable for general-purpose lighting including kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms while the IP44 version offers better defense against intrusion from splashed water making it ideal for lighting in bathrooms. Verbatim’s fixtures are easy to install generally without needing tools as they simply fit into standard size cut-out holes used by existing fixtures. The new products are adjustable and offer a straightforward twist and lock connection system.
