VER the last 12 months, JA Horne Starlight has invested more than £120,000 in new machinery and completely refurbished its local showroom at Abbeydale Road. The longest-established of the three Sheffield branches, the Abbeydale Road showroom opened more than 30 years ago and now boasts 17 new displays, including two full-size home studies, 12 of the latest bedrooms and five state-of-the-art kitchens. Offering a wider range than almost any other independent retailer in the area, JA Horne now has an impressive 150 rooms on display across its trio of showrooms; 70 kitchens and 80 bedrooms and studies.
And new manufacturing processes now means that all furniture now comes with a 25-year guarantee. Despite having been a successful family-run business for more than 40 years, JA Horne refuses to rest on its laurels and is investing in the future by taking on two full-time apprentices. This pair will join the experienced team of long-standing staff, ten of whom have worked for the company for more than 20 years each. Having been employed at JA Horne for more than 30 years, Company Director Steve Rhodes said:
“We were originally the first and only company of our type to be trading standards approved in Yorkshire and Humberside. “We still work to those exacting standards and principles and have also just joined the Trusted Trader Scheme, which is jointly run by Trading Standards and Derbyshire County Council.” And it’s no wonder that customers are just as loyal as the staff when it comes to redesigning their homes, with delighted clients returning many times over the years and even asking JA Horne to travel to their new homes when they move away from Sheffield. Added Steve: “Most of our work is in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, but we have also worked in Aberdeen, London and Cambridge.
“Often people will have had work done here and then they move away and know they can trust us, or relatives of people here have seen the quality of our work and ask us to travel to them.” In recent months, JA Horne have massively extended their range of sliding wardrobes and are the only independent company in the area to be using the Raumplus system; widely regarded to be the best of the market.
