Call for crossing at Beauchief

Dear Active8,

SOME of the residents of Beauchief have set up a petition to make Hutcliffe Wood Road safer. Hutcliffe Wood Road is a very fast, busy road. At the top end, near the cemetery entrance, cars come whizzing round the bends from either side and it’s difficult to cross.

The old folks in the bungalows across the road find it terrifying. There are bus stops on either side, which are used, not only by local families, but by lots of folk who come daily to bring flowers to the Gardens of Remembrance or to attend a funeral. Everyone has difficulty negotiating this dangerous and difficult road. Every time my girls cross to get to the bus stop, my heart is in my mouth and I can’t watch. To make it worse, the pavement ends on the bend, just after our home, so there is no alternative but to cross. Please visit www.sheffield.moderngov.co.uk/mgepetitionlist display.aspx?bcr=1 Log in and go to ‘Request for pedestrian crossing Hutcliffe Wood Road.’We need lots of signatures for any action to be considered. Josee Shaw, Hutcliffe Wood Road, Beauchief
