ORE than £3,250 has been raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care thanks to staff and
customers at Sheffield 8 inn, The White Hart.
Since taking over the Greenhill pub just over two years ago, owners Mark Devereux and Angelica Zapata have organised various charity events and, last year, decided to put together a team to take part in the Great North Run.
The team who took part in the 13.1 mile Newcastle run consisted of Angelica and Mark, along with seven local customers; Matthew Smith, Jonathan Smith, Benjamin Helliwell, Adam Banks, Mark Grant, Andy Beckett and Liam Beckett.
Other events to help raise the fantastic total of £3,257.40 included a nine-mile walk from Hathersage back to Greenhill, a charity Wax-Off Day and a Last Push Party.
Said Mark: “We are extremely proud of all our customers, as every single one of them supported this very worth while cause and helped us achieve this incredible sum.” A special thanks goes to all the people and businesses who took part in the events or donated raffle prizes.
The White Hart team members who competed in the Great North Run Murder at the Village
mystery and comedy. To be performed at Coal Aston Village Hall, at 7.30pm, from Wednesday, April 17th, to Saturday, 20th, ‘Murdered to Death’ is a hilarious spoof of an Agatha Christie-style thriller. Written by Peter Gordon and directed by Terry Ellis, the audience will be able to enjoy cafe-styling seating and their favourite tipple.
