A place to discover T

wenty years ago, Quebec’s Canoe and Kayak Federation (FQCK) was

given management of the canoe camping activity in La Vérendrye wildlife reserve, an area which straddles the two regions of Outaouais and Abitibi-Témiscamingue. With a mandate to help canoeists access thousands of Quebec’s lakes and rivers and also to protect those waterways it is an obvious partnership. Canot-camping La Vérendrye now has 14 seasonal em- ployees, mostly students and outdoor enthusiasts, fully trained to offer users a warm welcome and professional service as well as up-to-date information on the various available circuits : 20 lakes and rivers circuits ranging from one to 10 days, within more than 800 km of well-maintained, well-marked waterway system.

Whether you enjoy canoe camping, sea kayaking or whitewater canoeing, you’re sure to find a circuit that’s perfect for you. Come and see us this summer.

Featured trip : “Hawkesbury - Des Baies” Circuit #77 - 108 km loop, approx. 7 days A

very nice lakes circuit, deep in the interior of the reserve, with one class I rapid, one waterfall and

14 portages totaling 4,635 meters. Long and narrow lakes are easy to navigate in windy conditions because of the great number of islands that provide shelter.

The remarkable section between Lac Henault and Lac des Baies is characterized by a series of small lakes connected by short portages.
