GIVE AND GO

] Beth Glaros

Maryland midfielder wanted to be an astronaut. Turns out she’s afraid of heights.

Who’s your favorite athlete? Greivis Vasquez. I loved watching him play for the Terps for four years, and I still keep up with his career in the NBA.

What’s one thing you can’t live without? My two dogs, Ginger and Cocoa. They’re Shih Tzus, and I’m obsessed with them. They were a surprise gift from Santa five years ago. No present has topped that since!

Who in lacrosse is destined to be a reality TV star?

My teammate Shanna Brady could definitely be on the “The Singing Bee.” I’ve never met anyone who knows lyrics to songs like she does.

What always puts you in a good mood? Taking a shower. It’s so refreshing, and it helps take my mind off things if I am having a stressful day.

Where did you go on your last vacation? My family took a road trip to Canada for two weeks. I had never really been out of the country before. I even got to learn some French!

What did you want to be when you were younger? I actually wanted to be an astronaut, mainly because we got to try astronaut ice cream in one of my elementary school classes, and I thought that was the coolest thing ever.

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

Mahatma Gandhi. I remember learning about him in high school

history class and being so interested in his life experiences. His quotes are inspiring and thought-provoking.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

I climbed Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park, Calif., with my family two years ago. It was one of the scariest things I have ever done. Unfortunately, mid-hike, I discovered that I have a fear of heights, and I was forced to climb the rest of the trail on my hands and knees. Meanwhile, my younger sisters practically ran up the trail. I don’t think they will ever let me live that one down.

Overtime (from Yale junior defender Adrienne Tarver): If you had one superpower, what would it be? The ability to teleport. That way, I could go wherever I wanted in the entire world without all the hassle of traveling.

Double Overtime (from Joel Winger, Santa Barbara, Calif.): What’s the best thing you know how to cook? I don’t really know how to make anything unless it involves heating up a frozen food item right out of the box.

Pose a question for our next subject. If you could be good at any other talent, what would it be?
