Haleigh Washington (Colorado Springs, Colo.) Haleigh Washington led Doherty High School to the Colorado State 5A volleyball champi- onship and was named the tournament’s most valuable player this past November. This past summer the Penn State recruit helped the U.S. qualify for the 2013 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship with a bronze fi nish at the 2012 NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship.
Will Montgomery (Santa Barbara, Calif.) Will Montgomery captured two gold medals and two silver medals in the fi nal four stops of the 2012 NORCE- CA Beach Circuit, all while playing with four different partners. He won gold with Jon Mesko at the St. Lucia stop and with Ton y Ciarelli at the Trinidad & Tobago stop. His medal string started with the silver at Chula Vista with Tri Bourne and ended with silver at Aruba with Avery Drost.
Dante Chakravorti (Glencoe, Ill.)
Courtney Schwan (Milton, Wash.)
Courtney Schwan, who helped the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Volleyball Team to gold at the NORCECA Girls’ Youth Continental Champion- ship, was named the Tacoma News Tribune All-Area Volleyball Player of the Year for the second straight time while competing for Bellarmine Prep. She led her high school to its fi rst-ever Washington Class 4A state title and was named most valuable player.
Tealle Hunkus (Girard, Ohio) Tealle Hunkus teamed with Summer Ross to capture gold at the 2012 NORCECA Beach Circuit fi nal tourna- ment held in Aruba. The U.S. tandem defeated Mexico’s Martha Revulta and Bibiana Candelas, who had won nine previous NORCECA event titles. She partnered with Traci Weamer in the second to last NORCECA stop in Trinidad & Tobago and fl ew home with the silver medal.
Setter Dante Chakravorti was selected to attend the USA Volleyball Boys’ Select Holiday Camp held Dec. 26-30 in Poway, Calif. He was part of the 2012 U.S. Boys’ Select A1 Program last summer. Chakra- vorti, who is in the 2015 high school class, competes for Vortex Vol- leyball Club.
Colby Harriman (Rochester, N.Y.)
Colby Harriman, an outside hitter competing for Pace Bootlegger in the Western Empire Region, participated in the USA Volleyball Indoor High Performance Holiday Boys’ Future Select Camp held Dec. 26-30 in Poway, Calif. Harri- man, expected to graduate McQuaid Jesuit High School (N.Y.) in 2014, is competing for Central Jersey Heat in the Garden Empire Region. During the New York Section 5 Class A championship, he scored 37 kills to earn the tournament’s MVP in November in en route to winning a third straight state championship.
