USA Volleyball Launches OnDemand Course U
SA Volleyball debuted the launch of its online indoor IMPACT (Impact Mastery and Professional Application Coaching Theory) OnDemand course through the Coaching Education Department in
November of 2012. The course offers an entry level of volleyball coaching education required in order to coach a USA Volleyball junior program. The program is an approxi- mate six-hour session available any day or time, designed to stop and restart whenever necessary. The course costs $50 for USA Volleyball members and $75 for non-members. “We are excited to be able to offer yet another convenient delivery method for this valuable and impactful entry-level coaching education course,” USA Volleyball Director of Coaching Education Diana Cole said. “USAV believes strongly that every young athlete in the nation deserves to have a trained and certified coach before stepping onto the volleyball court, and this IMPACT OnDemand course will allow that to happen much more easily.” Upon completion of the online session, a certification exam will launch immediately following the course. Coaches must achieve a 90 percent or better on the test within three weeks of the registration date to become IMPACT certified. IMPACT targets primarily beginning coaches and those with little to no prior coaching educa- tion foundation course work. This class will also meet the “Founda- tions of Coaching” class require- ment toward USA Volleyball CAP (Coaching Accreditation Program) Level I accreditation.
Coaches completing the IM-
PACT course will receive certi- fication of completion via email. Certified coaches will be added to the USAV CAP and education email lists to receive periodic information. Certified coaches will also be entered into the CAP National Database as hav- ing fulfilled the IMPACT and CAP Level I “Foundations” requirement. USA Volleyball members can register for the on-demand course by click-
ing here. Non-members can register for the IMPACT OnDemand course by clicking here. The on-demand course system requirements include Flash Player installed on your computer to run the course, which is not compatible with smart phones, tablets or other mobile devices. An electronic pdf copy of the current year’s IMPACT Manual is included with the on-demand course materials and is accessible from within the course for viewing, downloading and printing. Over 30,000 coaches have gained IMPACT certification since the program was created in 1988. IMPACT is traditionally delivered by nationally trained USA Volleyball Regional Volleyball Association (RVA) IMPACT instructors in a four-hour face-to-face clinic. The USAV national office has delivered an additional 2,500 courses per year over the last four years to coaches nation- ally via live five-hour webinars with an online exam required. The six-hour IMPACT OnDemand course, with its online exam, is the third and newest delivery method allowing USAV Region coaches and others in geographically challenged areas to access and complete the course at their convenience. Karch Kiraly, U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team head coach, pro- vides his feedback on the course at
