an increased lower end response down to 50Hz.
The RECCE HD has the
standard features and benefits of the Glensound HD Voice system, so it will work in highly congested areas without problems, as it connects as a simple voice call (No IP, no data). For the HD Voice quality, the RECCE HD will need to connect back to a compatible Glensound HD Voice studio unit. The RECCE HD adds control via a backlit screen, for easier use of the phonebook function, and easier configuration. The commentator section
more familiar to users of classic ISDN commentary units like the GS-GC5 and GS-GC25. HD Voice is the new service being adopted by mobile phone networks around the world that doubles the quality of a voice call from the old 3.4kHz bandwidth up to 7kHz bandwidth, with
adds integration for three commentators or announcers. There are three mic/line inputs with independent controls, and a common monitoring section for three pairs of headphones. The commentators can hear their own mix of themselves, the return audio, and a local external connection.
Networking gateway
RTS has introduced its ADAM intercom matrix products and OMNEO professional media networking. The new RTS ADAM OMNEO interface cards transform the RTS ADAM intercom system into a flexible, IP-based, AVB-compatible intercom network. OMNEO media networking architecture goes beyond traditional AVB solutions by incorporating both industry standard Open Control Architecture (OCA) control and AVB media transport as well as IP-based transport, ensuring future interconnectivity with a growing number of devices. the door to deploy ADAM intercom systems over any standard IP-based network. With OMNEO, users are not ‘locked in’ to other vendors’ proprietary backbone infrastructure. The addition of RTS ADAM OMNEO cards to any compatible RTS ADAM system means even existing installations can be networked over standard IP hardware with high quality, ultra-low-latency audio. The product range consists of
the RTS ADAM OMNEO card for the ADAM and ADAM-M intercom frames and a user station interface card for select RTS keypanel models. Both these cards fully update the connectivity of these RTS intercom products to be fully IP compatible.
Loudness compliance
TSL Professional Products presented the new PAM PiCo Five Audio and Loudness Meter at NAB. The PAM PiCo Five allows for realtime logging of all relevant loudness parameters including high and low loudness levels, peak level and corresponding peak channel, as well as integrated loudness. “Since loudness compliance monitoring of distributed signals became legislation, the industry has been clamouring for reliable, accurate and powerful loudness monitoring products that are straightforward and easy-to-use while providing recordable data that illustrates they are in compliance,” said Martin
Peter Pörs, Junger Audio: “Loudness control is a hot topic and there is increasing demand from broadcasters”
Dyster, head of audio for TSL. “The new PAM PiCo Five delivers this capability in unit that’s comparable to the size of a smartphone for at-a-glance monitoring of all the latest standards, with logging software for a PC. The PAM PiCo Five is ideal for the smaller facility, OB truck or major broadcaster looking for enhanced and flexible capability at a reasonable cost.” At NAB Wohler Technologies
unveiled the new WohlerCaption appliance. This turnkey, closed- caption translation solution uses Wohler’s RadiantGrid technology to extract closed captioning from media sources and insert closed captioning back into the transcoded output file. As a result, broadcasters can easily and cost-effectively update content with caption

data prior to delivery via traditional broadcast services or on new services and platforms. Speaking at the NAB press
conference, managing director of RadiantGrid Hank Frecon explained that the company already had a basis in captioning within the file-based domains. “We were taking caption data, extracting it out of outsourced material, restructuring it and putting it into new material. We could do that in a transcode environment. But we were missing certain features and functions so together with Wohler engineering and RadiantGrid engineering we are launching at the show, WohlerCaption. “By 2015 all material has to
have caption compliance in the US and around the world so WohlerCaption is a nice elegant solution,” he added.
