COSTA DELIGHT

SeaDream is offering a series of 5 to 9-day cruises in CENTRAL AMERICA in November and December 2013 that are a naturalist’s delight. Situated at the epicentre of some of the world’s best eco- adventures, incomparable rainforest, unparalleled wildlife and deserted, palm-fringed beaches, Costa Rica’s Pacific coast is a cruising experience without equal. There are five 7-day cruises aboard SeaDream I that venture not

just off the beaten track, but to the edges of the beaten map. Calls are made at Isla de Cobia in Panama and San Juan del

Sur in Nicaragua as well as the Costa Rican destinations of Golfito, Drake Bay, Isla del Cano, Quepos, Playa Cúru, Playa Flamingo, Playa Potrero, Playa el Coco and the Tortuga Islands. There is also a 9-day cruise from Barbados to Balboa that includes a transit of the Panama Canal; a 5-day sailing from Balboa to Caldera; and a 7-day voyage between Caldera and Colon in Panama. SeaDream has arranged for expert naturalist Christopher Alfaro to sail aboard all Costa Rica voyages and he will give lectures as well as leading the in-depth land adventures.

Dream Beds allow couples to laze in the sun, or sleep under a diorama of stars in their complimentary, monogrammed pyjamas. Also on this deck are two captain’s chairs with mounted binoculars, a private massage tent, a large-screen golf simulator and space for Tai Chi, yoga and aerobics. One deck below, the well appointed Topside

Restaurant is where breakfast and lunch are served, as well as dinner on several nights during each cruise, weather permitting. I have had the unbridled joy of dining here when the yachts have been at anchor off St Barts, St Tropez, Virgin Gorda and Monte Carlo. Without doubt, this is an indulgent mise-en-scène few ships can emulate. Forward on Deck 4 is the only Thai-certified

Spa at sea and offers La Prairie, Thalgo and Harnn treatments. The Fitness Centre has elliptical treadmills mounted with flat-screen TVs, free weights and recumbent bikes. A personal trainer is even on hand should discipline go overboard.
