Networking products supplier Cisco is investing€26mat its Galway R&D facility over the next two years,with the creationof 115newpositions. The new projects expand themandate of the Cisco Galway
R&Dcentre intonewbusiness areas incommunicationandcol- laborationsoftware technology including enterprise andcloud- enabled desktop, mobile applications, desktop virtualisation and real-timeweb communications. The Cisco Galway site originally opened in 2007. Cisco also
has sales and EMEAR capital operations at its offices in East Point,Dublin. “Cisco's R&D operation in Ireland is developing industry-
leading products for global markets,” said Barry O'Sullivan, senior vice-president forCisco's global collaboration business.
M/A-COM TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS EXPANDING CORK WORKFORCE
US analogue semiconductor company M/A-COMTechnology Solutions is to create 30 new jobs in Cork. The company set up its Cork opera-
tion in 2008 and currently employs 68 people there. In 2010, it began an IDA supported R&D project in inte- grated circuit (IC) design and in 2011 it established its international head- quarters in Cork. The 30 new positions are currently
being added in engineering, supply chain, quality and administration. “M/A-COMTech’s strategic focus
on integrated circuits featuring higher levels of integration and func- tionality resulted in the recent estab- lishment of the monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC) design centre here in Cork,” said Mike Mur- phy, vice-president of engineering for M/A-COMTech.

SANDBOX ESTABLISHES FIRST IRISH HUB
The very first Sandbox hub in Ireland was officially launched by Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD at Government Buildings in April. Founded in Zurich in May
2009, Sandbox was established to give young achievers through- out the world an ecosystemthat helps accelerate themto a point where they can make a real dif- ference in their home country and on a global level before they reach the age of 30. “We help themto develop their
projects and skills, and increase their reach globally,” commented Dublin Sandbox ambassador John Egan. “We do this by offering

IDA SIGNS MOU WITH CHINA AIRCRAFT LEASING OPERATION
IDA Ireland has signed a Memo- randumof Understanding (MOU) with ICBC Financial Leasing, part of ICBC, the world’s largest bank. Aircraft leasing company ICBC
Financial Leasing already manages US$2bn worth of aircraft assets fromits Dublin office, which opened in 2009. This operation does business with over 10 coun- tries and there are plans to expand this base in future years. Under the terms of theMOU,
IDA Ireland and ICBC Financial Leasing have agreed on increased co-operation and to hold regular meetings to explore further com- mercial opportunities of interest to both sides. TheMOU was signed in Beijing
as part of the recent State visit to China.
DATALOGIC SETTING UP EMEA HQ IN DUBLIN
Datalogic ADC is setting up a Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) head- quarters, shared services and customer management centre in Dublin, creating 30 jobs. A division of Datalogic Group, the company offers solutions with fixed
position retail scanners, handheld scan- ners andmobile computers for applica- tions in a range of industries, including retail, transportation and logistics. “Ireland’s global recognition as a cen-
tre of excellence for shared services, together with the presence of other
