LCD units for bright environments

Two 15” Landmark high-brightness, sunlight-readable, TFT LCD modules have been launched by Ginsbury. The 15.6” LMG226B-156XW01 and the 15.0” LMG241-150X02TL deliver high levels of screen luminance and suit outdoor environments. Relevant applications include digital signage, outdoor kiosks, marine, medical, mobile and industrial uses. The LMG226B module features: a very high brightness (VHB) LED backlight, enabling screen brightness of 1,800cd/m² and a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels, with a viewing angle of greater than ±80˚ in both horizontal and vertical directions. The LMG241 unit includes: a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution; a sunlight-readable display with a VHB LED backlight in a side mount package of less than 12mm maximum thickness. At the maximum backlight power of 18.5W, the unit delivers a brightness of 1,500cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 800:1. Both modules feature an anti-glare

hard coating treatment on the front sur- face of the display and have an operating temperature range of 0˚C to 50˚C. Ginsbury Electronics T: 01634 298900 Enter 249 www.ginsbury.co.uk

Galvanometer and controller combination

New from Aerotech are Nmark AGV-HP advanced galvanometers which use innovative optical feedback technology to increase resolution to greater than 24 bits. According to the company, both the standard AGV and higher per- formance AGV-HP series scanners can be directly driven by the Nmark CLS galvo controller, which offers a full suite of advanced application tools that include Position Synchronised Output (PSO) and Infinite Field of View (IFOV). The AGV is available with 10, 14, and 20mm apertures with standard F-Theta lens interfaces and can be configured to accommodate 1064, 532, and 355nm wavelengths, with others on request. A variety of focal lengths are standard.

The ability to accurately place a laser spot as a function of X/Y axis position is a key feature of Aerotech’s linear positioning tables for laser processing applications. With the release of the Nmark CLS, this functionality is now available for scanner applications. The PSO function ties laser pulses directly to galvo position. In addition, the ability to accurately trigger the laser as a function of posi- tion removes the need to program mark, jump, and polygon delays, resulting in reduced programming complexity. By using the PSO functionality, scanner-based processes can now be programmed in the same fashion as traditional X/Y stage-based applications. Aerotech

The Micron range of plan- etary gearheads from HT Servo offer high torque to volume ratio, high tor- sional stiffness and low backlash with new ‘swing link’ technology. This also increases torque capacity by up to 25% compared with conventional designs, claims the company. Featuring a sophisticated gear arrangement using three planet gears, the gearheads provide opti- mum performance characteristics, as well as high efficiency and low noise. Planet gears are attached with the mobile ‘swing link’ which results in a 25% increase in torque capacity compared to fixed planet configurations. The swing link also improves tooth contact

I/O module range features integrated display

Fieldbus I/O modules with an illuminated LCD display have been introduced by Balluff. The new generation of modules is available for CC-Link, Ethernet/IP and Profinet fieldbus systems, with others available soon. Module functions include a lock bit; search and rescue; device identification; a rugged, full-jacket, zinc die-cast hous- ing; a flat profile with rounded edges; clear, large area displays; and ease of mounting with two attachment points.

The IP67 generation of mod- ules employ an easy to navigate, brightly lit menu display and include integrated manipulation protection, which means that the display can be locked out by the PLC, preventing unautho- rised access.

The Ethernet/IP and Profinet module versions come equipped with an integrated web server. This operates using a standard web browser, in which the user has access to diagnostics functions such as all LED display indicators located on the module.

These module versions also enable the user to paramatise and allow the assigning of IP addresses. Balluff

by balancing the load, enabling a 3- 11% increase in efficiency. Torque ripple can also be reduced by as much as 20%

over a fixed planetary gearhead, making the gearboxes suitable for both low and medium speeds. The product range includes direct inline planetary and right angle planetary gearheads, and there is the option of IP69 protec- tion. The RediMount motor mounting system allows easy, error-free and quick connection of the planetary gearheads to motors. HT Servo www.htservo.com

power supplies PULS UK has enhanced the speci- fication of a number of its power supplies, enabling them to obtain international IECEx approval. This approval means the units can be used in Class 1 Div 2 atmospheres. The products already comply with the European ATEX standard and the Class 1 Div 2 HazLoc scheme covering the USA. The IECEx scheme was cre- ated to facilitate international trade in electrical equipment intended for use in hazardous atmospheres, by eliminating the need for multiple national certifi- cations. The new Y-cables from ifm electronic have been designed to make the process of connecting sensors with integrated M12 plugs easier. There are two styles of connector available: the EVC range of oil-proof general-purpose connectors and the EVT range of water-resistant connectors, aimed at food industry environments. The industry-standard (EN 61076-2) M12 connector has at least four possible connections but most sensors only need three, so the fourth pole can be used for a second sensor with the use of the Y-splitter. The EVT Y-splitters feature high-grade,

stainless-steel components, EPDM O-ring, high shock and vibration resistance, a temperature range of up to 100˚C and IP ratings including IP69K. The EVC Y-splitters also feature high shock and vibration resistance, but the manufacturer has stated that materials such as PUR cable and Viton O-ring are better suited to machine environments. The IP is therefore tested in coolant rather than water. Both ranges can be supplied in a choice of lengths, up to a maximum of 5m, with straight or angled sensor sockets. The angled sockets can also include LED’s for power and sensor status indication. ifm electronic
