further enhance the printing quality of its ream wrap products offered to central and eastern European markets. The investment includes a 10-colour flexo printing machine that will be utilised in the production of ream wrap used mainly for A4 and A3 copy paper reams.

the fourth quarter of 2013, the new machine, will be located at Walki’s Jatne plant situated 40 km south-east of Warsaw. The supplier of the printing machine will

Wide web flexo press capable of speeds up to 600m/min meets needs of industry

At drupa 2012 Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) demonstrated its EASY family of automation

modules on its new MIRAFLEX CL 10 flexographic press. “drupa 2012 was one of the best trade

shows in the past few years for us,“ agree chairman Jürgen Vutz and managing director Peter Steinbeck. “We took in many orders at the show, proving to us that W&H equipment is properly positioned to meet the needs of our customers and that the market for flexible packaging is not being directly affected by the structural changes in the overall printing industry.“ The wide-web press is capable of speeds

of up to 600m/min. The new modules, the EASY-SET HD impression setting system which analyses high resolution printing

In addition, W&H presented the new HELIOSTAR SE gravure press which incorporates a cylinder change system and auto wash-up for extremely fast changeovers - ideal for short runs. Also successful was the in-house EXPO in Lengerich that ran during drupa. Around 500 customers from 44 different countries used the opportunity to see W&H's press laboratory and the performance of the company's flexographic and gravure presses.

Sprint Print & Packaging, based in Kathmandu, Nepal, has installed a seven-colour Edale combination UV/IR scratch card line. The 510mm wide press is configured with seven UV/IR flexo units; an Edale CR80 card

stacker which takes multiple streams of standard format CR80 cards from a die cut unit and transports them in a continuous stack in sequence; and a complete personalisation system including digital variable data printing, data verification, void product logging and tracking. Servo driven, the Gamma SC-510 can

handle substrates from 12-600 micron and perform a full station colour change in less than 70 seconds. This machine was designed to combine the multiple processes normally associated with scratch card production in a single pass. This rationalises the production process, eliminates work in progress and increases the security and traceability of the cards, producing up to 1.5million pins/ hour. “This new press allows us to better serve

our customers by utilising new capabilities and services that go beyond what we could previously offer,” explains director Shishir Nahata. “It allows us to further our reach and be more flexible to changing needs”. Furthermore, Sprint has customised the

press to allow printing and converting of various kinds of labels and cartons. The Edale personalisation line at Sprint

delivers superior productivity and efficiency and is designed to handle very thin film substrates, helping to expand capabilities to include overwraps on collectible trading cards using fin seals, specialised packaging applications, prime labels and unsupported films for bottle wraps.
