Duelist Mk III 1/2
The original Duelist was designed by Dave Platt in 1974 for two SuperTigre 23 engines and became a Pica kit. Later Dave did a kit of the Mk II version, published in the May 1978 issue of Model Airplane News. This was the plan used by Gerry Armstrong to build his electric version for Toledo in 2010 which is also the plan originally used by Paul Bradley and BMJR as the basis for this half size model of this classic model. The Duelist Mk III designation was used only to differentiate between the original Mk II and the electric version.
The BMJR Duelist has a 35- inch wing span and an area of 223 square inches. The model
was designed around the HiMaxx 2208-1260 brushless motors to take advantage of their “stick” mount feature, although any pair of 30-watt brushless motors will provide excellent performance.
The kit contains 23 laser-cut balsa and ply sheets with 272 parts, a vacuformed canopy and complete hardware package.
