COLOUR CAMERA FOR CELL INSPECTION

Teledyne Dalsa has launched its Piranha4 8k Color CMOS line scan camera with 8k resolution and a 7 x 7µm pixel size for optimised optical design. The Piranha4 series combines advancements in Teledyne Dalsa’s CMOS image sensor technology with outstanding signal-to-noise ratio for high speed inspection. The colour version of this camera is ideal for automatic optical inspection of flat panel displays, electronics, printed material, solar cells, film and large format web inspection. The camera provides line rates up to 50kHz at full resolution. The Piranha4 Color is based on Teledyne Dalsa’s CMOS bilinear

line scan technology with on-chip CDS and on-chip ADC. It offers low read noise and high full well capacity, resulting in a better dynamic range for demanding applications. Programmability features of the camera include exposure control, gain setting, flat field correction, white balance and colour correction. Special algorithms allow defocusing capability in flat field correction and white balancing without the need of adjusting the optical lens. In addition, an advanced GenICam compliant interface makes the camera easier to setup, control and integrate. www.teledynedalsa.com

DATA READER FOR SOLAR TRACEABILITY 3D CONTROL OF SOLAR CELL SOLDERING

EVT has developed the EyeScan 3D scanhead with the integrated evaluation software EyeVision 3D. This combination offers the user three-dimensional control of solar cell soldering. Additionally, complete evaluation of the 3D data is integrated in the EyeVision 3D software, reducing implementation time. The EyeScan 3D scanhead carries out image processing autonomously, with the 3D evaluation taking place onboard the camera. With the

20 PHOTOVOLTAICS 2012

EyeVision software, EVT has developed a cost-effective and compact 3D system, which can be programmed and configured by the user by drag-and-drop.

EyeScan 3D (140 x 70 x 50mm) contains a pre-calibrated laser triangulation sensor with 5mW of power. It has a maximum scan rate of 400Hz and a resolution of up to 1,280 pixels. Data transfer is via Gigabit Ethernet interface or optional RS232. www.evt-web.com

Cognex has released the DataMan 302 ID reader designed specifically for solar traceability initiatives. The DataMan 302 features integrated, bank controlled, blue illumination for reading 2D barcodes on solar photovoltaic (PV) wafers. The high resolution (1,280 x 1,024 pixels) image-based ID reader is ideal for decoding laser-marked ECC-200 data matrix codes used on PV wafers that comply with the SEMI industry organisation standard SEMI PV29-0212, published in February 2012.

The DataMan 300 series of image-based industrial ID readers provide high read rates and are able to decode multiple codes within one image, even

if presented at an angle. The 2DMax+ algorithm can handle variations in code marking, codes with damaged data matrix clocking or timing patterns and codes degraded during the manufacturing process.

In order to ensure complete traceability, marks must be decoded at many stages of the solar panel manufacturing process. The DataMan 300 series includes flexible lens options, allowing the same reader model to be used in a wide range of applications. These applications include reading codes within confined spaces, decoding small codes within large fields of view (FOV). www.cognex.com
