Sending church discovers heart for missions in Toronto

oronto, Ont., and Collierville, Tenn., couldn’t be more different. One is a fast-paced metropolis, the fifth most populous in North America, marked
by incredible spiritual and cultural diversity.
The other is a quiet Southern suburb comfortably set in the Bible Belt. Nearly 1,000 miles apart, the two cities have little in common, but for pastor Chuck Herring, they have never been more connected. For nearly 10 years, Herring has
worked hard to reach the community of Collierville as pastor of the thriving Col-
lierville First Baptist Church (CFBC). Heavily involved in missions, outreach and community service, the congrega- tion is in the process of taking on a new role: sending and supporting one of their own to plant a church in Toronto. “We heard the challenge given by
the convention to plant a church in an unreached part of North America and it
